Where your engineers sit changes three things: the rate you pay, how many hours of your working day they overlap with, and how quickly a team can be assembled. Onshore keeps everyone in your own market and time zone. Nearshore keeps most of that overlap at a lower rate. Offshore opens the widest talent pool and the lowest rate, with a few hours of daily overlap rather than a full working day. We staff all three, and most of the teams we build use a mix.
